Abstract: Quantifying rainfall rates using radar is critical to modern meteorology, typically achieved through measuring reflectivity with a scanning weather radar, and converting to rainrate via an empirical relationship. Wind profiling radars are capable of retrieving additional rainfall information, and can thus provide superior estimates at their location. This paper discusses the use of two VHF and one UHF wind profiler for such studies.
