Abstract: Pages i-xii: Opinions of various writers on marriage laws,some pages with comments by Andrew Lang and A.R. Brown interleaved. Sections covering Southern districts, the great Northern group and the Upper Murchison discuss primary class divisions, subdivisions, Manitchmat and Wordungmat types, derivations of class names, local names, eagle hawk and crow, marriage laws in the Donnelly River area, paternal and maternal descent, relationship terms in the Beverley district, Capel, Albany, Denmark and Esperance Bay. Further pages cover tribes with totem divisions only, pedigrees to illustrate this and adoptions. The northern group covers the areas of Broome, Hall’s Creek, Roeburne and Cane River. The Upper Murchison section is mentioned, as well as Gascoyne, Vasse, Pinjarra, Gingin, Eucla, Leonora, Laverton and the Eastern Goldfields.
