At the end of the river : the Coorong and lower lakes / David Paton

Abstract

David Paton provides a brief overview of the importance of maintaining environmental flows to the Murray Mouth for the maintenance of the Coorong and its biota. Concerned that the general public may be poorly informed through media reports that the Coorong is dying, Paton wrote a natural history of the region, At the End of the River: The Coorong and Lower Lakes, to inform the community about how the Coorong operates. Even in its current altered state, the Coorong still easily meets criteria for listing as a Wetland of International Importance, and importantly is recoverable and warrants an allocation of water.
