dc.description"Barr Smith Discovery Series. Presented by the Friends of the University of Adelaide Library, 23 September 2010, Ira Raymond Room, Barr Smith Library, the University of Adelaide." Recorded at the University of Adelaide, 23 September 2010.en
Christine Macgregor was a South Australian who amassed a collection of nearly 5,000 books, all of which (except one) she bequeathed to the Barr Smith Library. Among these books are a few hundred volumes which exemplify the spirit of William Morris’s ’ideal book’ and the history of the Private Press Movement; they also comprise a significant legacy to our state. This talk will addresses the questions: Who was Christine Macgregor? What, indeed, is the significance of her legacy? Maureen Prichard gained her PhD from the University of South Australia with her thesis Such Endless Pleasure: The Illustrated Private Press Books of Christine Margaret Macgregor.en
