Abstract: | A transducer is described which can be used to measure the translational and rotational vibratory power transmission from a source to a receiving structure. A description of the procedure used to calibrate the device is also included. The results from the calibration show that whilst the amplitude of the forces, moments, translational and rotational displacements can be measured accurately, it is the phase accuracy of these measurements that limit the accuracy of measurements of vibratory power transmission. The transducer was used in active vibration isolation experiments to reduce the vibration energy transmitted into a beam from a vibrating rigid mass. The results show the occurrence of vibratory power circulation where translational vibration is converted into rotational vibration. |
