Abstract: Genista monspessulana, a perennial leguminous shrub native to the Mediterranean region, is a major weed in native and forest ecosystems in South Australia and other parts of the world. This study examines the biology of G. monspessulana in its native and exotic ranges and investigates the outcomes of potential management strategies involving fire, herbicide and competition.
