Abstract: There is a tendency in Australia to draw a contrast between people living in metropolitan centres and those in non-metropolitan areas. The digital divide adds an additional dimension to this. This paper analyses the major characteristics of the population in regional Australia and draws attention to the diversity of population trends and characteristics in this population.
